…..so we all ended up trying to sail this boat made from
empty milk cartons held together with silver paper and our own
hair , with only a toothbrush to paddle it, across Loch Ness in
a force nine gale…….”
Everyone has their own idea of what a team building event entails.
Some people throw themselves into them whilst others attend under
duress.
“another management fad”
or “an experience that has helped me realise
my potential”
Despite these polarised views the fact is team build events are
effective in developing individuals which in turn delivers group
success.
Having worked with both private and public sector clients Interactive
Motivation has “inspired individuals and
delivered group success”.
Weir Services
Weir Services run a very successful apprenticeship programme
for young people joining the company. Whilst concentrating on
developing the technical skills required for their future roles
there was a concern that the apprentices were not receiving training
to assist them develop their soft skills and to appreciate the
leadership roles within the company.
Having engaged Interactive Motivation to run a two day, off site,
event concentrating on communication and leadership following
completion of the course Weirs Service management reported a marked
difference in the attendees performance.
'Interactive Motivation provided a tailor made course that met
our needs very effectively. Our objective was to provide our young
people with experiential learning in team work, communication
and leadership.
Participant feedback was extremely positive and as a company
we were very pleased with the safe and practical delivery of our
objectives. I would have no problem in recommending Interactive
Motivation as a provider of high quality courses, particularly
for developing young people in an organisation.'

Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire (SEL)
SEL
engaged Interactive Motivation to work with their training provider
partners. The reason for the five day event was in order to reward
and motivate them for their performance over the year but also
to provide activities that they could use in their role as trainers
themselves, a train the trainers session.
Whilst a number of the delegates deliver team building activities
themselves to other groups in line with their delivery of services
to Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire there was considerable surprise
at the effectiveness and diversity of the activities they were
involved with during the event.
“very enjoyable and I thought I was a leader but have
learned that I need to communicate more”
“enjoyed today’s event very much and felt motivated
and enthusiastic after the session”
“ I really enjoyed today . I feel I learnt a lot about
team work which I can now pass on to my trainees.”
“I enjoyed today and will be able to put a lot of the
activities into practise. The tutors were excellent, they paced
it correctly, enthused the group and were able to link the games
to the operational objectives”
Course Attendees
South Lanarkshire College
In line with South Lanarkshire College’s provision of
courses to help young people who may have passed up their first
chance at achieving their potential at school they run a number
of course intended to give young people a second chance.
Step into Construction is such a course. The course provides
a taster of what subjects students would attend if they were to
attend the course. The young people targeted for these courses
are referred from the Careers Service and are very often ineligible
for any type of welfare benefit unless they attend these courses,
subsequently they are considered disenfranchised and difficult
to work with, but each having potential.
In order to help the young people understand the importance of
communication, problem solving and leadership, all of which have
been identified as lacking in school leavers by potential employers,
South Lanarkshire College engaged Interactive Motivation.
Working with the same group of young people when they start the
short course and at the end of the course Interactive Motivation
has tailored the two sessions to challenge the attendees. In the
first instance when they have been brought together as virtual
strangers and later when they have forged relationships and are
able for more challenging problem solving activities.
' Feedback from our trainees for Interactive Motivation's
sessions has ranged from 'excellent ' to ' fandabadosy ' ! Everyone
feels they have learned something and have had great fun at the
same time.'
